Les Etats-Unis ont à l'heure actuelle 11 porte-avions en service à travers toutes les mers du globe.Depuis le retrait du service du CV-67 John F KENNEDY en mars 2007, ils ne leur restent  qu'un seul porte-avions à propulsion classique (CV), les dix autres étant à propulsion nucléaire (CVN).
